Losing A Bet.

Skip this post if you care little about fantasy football or stupid bets involving avatars.

Last week I benched BenJarves Green Ellis (The Law Firm). He went on to have his best day ever.

Last week I benched Deion Branch. He went on to have one of his best days in a long time.

Remember, I'm a Patriots fan, so having these two on my team is a blessing. Yet, they sat on my bench while my "friend" Aaron Strout beat on my team all weekend. Fine, no big deal, except that before the matchup I bet Aaron on who would win. We placed the typical bet, winner chooses the Twitter avatar for the loser.

Why I Mourn Steve Jobs. Hint, It's Not Just The iPhone.

Apple-logo

It's easy really.

I played Oregon Trail and Winter Olympics with Maggie in between writing horrible book reports on an Apple IIe in the 80s.

I njoyed plenty of games of Yahtzee amidst writing a thesis on civil liberty reductions on a Color Classic with Alex and Andrew in the 90s.

Today, I take photos and videos of Regan and my children from our iPhone and store them on our iMac. I run each day while listening to music and tracking my heart rate from that same iPhone. And I surf on my iPad in Austin, while jotting down recipes, Twittering, Facebooking, and getting in Facetime for my kids with my parents thousands of miles away.

Over four different decades your vision and the products that were created from this brilliance were there, but not just for entertainment, gaming, or work. They connected us, pushed us, made us better, and built stronger personal relationships.

Apple didn't make my life, I did that, but you definitely made it richer, and for that I say thank you Steve Jobs.

Beating Breast Cancer: One Dollar At A Time

Special guest post from my Mom after surviving breast cancer THREE times and seeing first hand how the money raised by Making Strides and the American Cancer Society actually help people fighting this disease. Please read her story and consider donating whatever you can, she is SO close to $5,000!!

October 3, 2010:  It was my 62nd birthday, I was bald and the luckiest person on earth to be celebrating not only with family and friends but with thousands of walkers with the same mission...."Eliminate cancer and celebrate more birthdays"..... Everyone's Mantra.

October 2, 2011:  My hair is back, I have celebrated my one year mark of being cancer free and I will again be walking with my family and friends on the Boston Esplanade in the annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer."

It has been 30 years since my first diagnoses and 19 since my second.  I've learned firsthand from my breast cancer experiences that breast cancer research is at a new level providing patients like myself with updated treatments and procedures raising the survival rate to an all- time high. It only makes sense with all this good news that the end result will be a CURE for breast cancer.

I raise money and participate in this wonderful event for my daughter Maggie and son-in-law Mark, my son Kyle and daughter-in-law Regan, my three beautiful grandsons Conor, Nolan and Trip, my extended family and friends and all their loved ones that have been touched by this disease.

I ask you to please support this important cause and in return you will know that you have helped improve ways to diagnose this disease, you have  helped eliminated some of the dreadful side effects from treatments for many cancer patients, and lastly you will help celebrate more birthdays with you friends and loved ones.

I want to thank everyone that has always supported me, I could never have done this without you.

Love,

Marilyn
